Sweepin' the Clouds Away...

Since the weather was yucky, Randee and I decided to take the tots to The Gateway to see the Sesame Street Human Body exhibit. Thanks for the great time Randee and Kale!

Busy, Busy

So many things to share, so little time! I’ll try to make it quick.

All dressed up! Angel was presented with an award at work and we were invited to a formal reception at The Marriot, Downtown where we were married. His co-workers, supervisors, managers, etc. think very highly of him, and it was nice to finally meet them all. I'm so proud of you Angel!

Due to the gorgeous weather we freakishly experienced last week, I decided to skip a day at the gym and take Sonja to the park instead. She went straight for the jungle gym, and I had to face the fact that during the short winter months, she grew enough to be able to climb the ladders and stairs and find her way to the slides by herself. It took a couple anxiety attacks, but I finally took a step back and let her go up and down all by herself. I was overwhelmed by her independence and beaming with pride at how well she behaved with the other kids. You wouldn’t believe how much fun she was having. Until… I told her it was time to go. She cried and said, “No, no we are NOT going home.” I made a deal that she could go down the slide one more time, and it was time to go. Of course, that was the time she fell through the bars of the curved ladder, bonking her head on the way down. Don’t worry dad, she was tough.

To summarize this weekend, Horton Hears a Who on Friday night, Pacquiao vs. Marquez on Saturday night, and for the grand finally… DISNEY ON ICE on Sunday! We have turned Sonja into a Disney cartoon enthusiast, so this was a big deal! She dressed up as Cinderella and even grandma and grandpa joined us. We saw all of her favorites, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and of course, Cinderella.

Tubby Time

Like most of Sonja's day-to-day activities, she has a quirky ritual when she takes a "tub-tubs." First she has her play time with her toys in the water, until I rudely interrupt her by washing her as she names her different body parts, then her hair, laughing as I extend her sudsy locks on top of her head so tall that she would put Alfalfa to shame. Then, I wrap her in her towel and cradle her in the mirror. She likes to pretend she's a little baby again, because we told her we used to wrap her like a burrito when she was itty-bitty. Then, we absolutely MUST make a smiley face on her "panza" with lotion. After we clean her ears and brush her teeth, it's time to put on her "jam-jams" and read her a bedtime story. To cap off the evening, she listens to her Disney CD, but only on one condition. She has to push the play button herself, or it just won't do. Angel and I giggle as we hear her singing softly along with Ariel or Jasmine, until...She's out like light. And, beware. She's a bear in the morning, just like her mommy.
